Gabriela Frias currently anchors Portafolio Global, a daily business newscast that delivers fast-paced global business news. For more than 15 years, Frias has presented financial news from Latin America and the world for CNN.
Frias began her journey with CNN in 2000 as a producer and collaborator of the business program of CNNE nightly show, leading the coverage of events as the Internet bubble burst, the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, the historic default in Argentina, the Venezuela’s coup among others. She quickly moved to anchor her own personal finance program En Efectivo launched in 2001. In late 2010, Frias took her experience in business journalism to CNN en Español’s Primetime, in CNNDinero, co-anchoring alongside Xavier Serbia.
Frias took part in the coverage of the terrorist attacks of September 11 in the United States and the war in Iraq. She traveled to Arizona to report on immigration reform among many other events. She collaborates with CNN International. Prior to joining CNN, Frias worked as a business reporter for Reforma, one of the largest newspapers in Mexico, since 1997.
Frias graduated with honors from Carlos Septíen School of Journalism in Mexico City.
She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
