    Dr. Peggy Lewis is the Associate Dean of the graduate school and Director of Media Studies at Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C. She received her Ph.D., “with distinction” in History from Howard University in May 2013.  Her dissertation title: “Preaching, Praying and Strategic Media Planning:  From Montgomery to Selma, How the Civil Rights Movement Forced Journalists to Do Their Job.” Prior to Trinity, she was an Assistant Professor and Broadcast Sequence Coordinator in the Department of Journalism at Howard University. Before coming to academia, she spent nearly 20 years as a broadcast journalist before embarking on a career in public service which included working for President William Jefferson Clinton, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman, and Children’s Defense Fund Founder and President, Marian Wright Edelman.
